day 1: PERUGIA
Check-in in hotel. Free time to relax. 7 p.m. Aperitifs and welcome dinner. Overnight on hotel.
Breakfast in hotel. 9 a.m. Visit Assisi to discover the history and the beauty of St. Francis town , including a visit to St.Francis's Basilica with its famous Giotto frescoes. 12 a.m. Lunch in restaurant featuring typical Umbrian cooking. 3 p.m. Visit Montefalco a charming umbrian village which has excellent Benozzo Gozzoli and Pietro Vannucci (Il Perugino) frescoes. It is also famous for its excellent wines: Rosso di Montefalco and Sagrantino, one of Italy's finest. Visit to a cellar for a private wine-tasting 5 p.m. Visit an ancient textile factory. 7 p.m. Dinner in a local restaurant in this charming village. After dinner return to Perugia for overnight stay in hotel.
Breakfast in hotel. 9 a.m. Visit Deruta and its artistic ceramics, which, throughout the centuries, have made Deruta famous throughout the world. Guided tour of the museum and to one of the ateliers, to admire the potter's wheels in operation; see artists decorating the pieces, which can be purchased. 3 p.m. Reach Torgiano, located few km away from Deruta . It still preserves its typical medieval appearance and many ancient walls. The Wine Museum is of great interest, with its important collection of wine-growing and wine-making accessories and presses. It also houses rare documents regarding the artistic, folkloristic and bibliografic aspects of the history of wine, as well as an important collection of 17th and 18th century majolica. 7 a.m. Dinner in a local restaurant.
day 4: PERUGIA
Breakfast in hotel. 9 a.m. Guided tour of Perugia. Using modern escalators inside the unique Rocca Paolina Fortress you ride up to Corso Vanucci, the main pedestrian-only street of Perugia's fascinating medieval center, with its historical monuments like Palazzo dei Priori, Fontana Maggiore and the Cathedral of San Lorenzo. 12 a.m. Lunch in a restaurant. 3 p.m. Visit to a medieval textile workshop. Here, on the same looms that have been used for centuries, Umbrian textiles are still made by hand, then skillfully decorated with embroidery, lace and decorative stitching. 5 p.m. An interesting visit to the Historical Museum of Perugina and the chocolate factory whose Baci chocolates are famous throughout the world. 7 p.m. Dinner in a local restaurant. Return to hotel in Perugia for overnight stay.
Breakfast in hotel. 9 a.m. Solomeo is a restored village situated at the foot of the Umbrian hills, with lovely a13th-century castle and a 17th-century park. You will vist one of most important cashmere factories of Italy owned by Brunello Cucinelli. 11 a.m. Lake Trasimeno, near the Tuscan border, is surrounded by interesting sites from Roman times. You will take a ferry to Isola Maggiore island, famous for its lacemakers. 12 a.m. Lunch in a restaurant near the lake with traditional fish dishes: the local ""tegamaccio"" fish-soup. After lunch take a ferry to come back. 3 p.m. Castiglione del Lago is perched on a limestone promontory, overlooking the lake. The medieval circle of walls and the ancient castle are built over earlier constructions by Ascanio della Corgna, who was marquis of Castiglione Del Lago during the 16th century. 7 p.m. Special and unforgettable renaissance dinner with theatre performance. Return to hotel in Perugia for overnight stay.
Breakfast in hotel. 9 a.m. Visit Gubbio, one of the oldest cities of Umbria, but extremely well-preserved during the centuries and rich in monuments that testify to its glorious past. Gubbio was made famous in the 16th century by Giorgio Andreoli, the inventor of “lustre"" (the art of embellishing ceramics with special light-reflecting glazes). The many workshops along Gubbio streets offer a multitude of hand-made objects. 12 a.m. Lunch in restaurant with home-made pasta and selected local meats and truffles (in season). 3 p.m. Visit to Città di Castello, which offers more than just Pintoricchio, Rosso Fiorentino, Signorelli or Raffaello: this is Alberto Burri's city, one of the most important contemporary artists. 7 p.m. Dinner in a local restaurant. Return to hotel in Perugia for overnight stay.
day 7: PERUGIA
